Man suffers serious injuries in A259 hit and run

A woman has died 11 days after her Suzuki crashed with another car near Lewes.

Police have appealed to drivers from across the area for any relevant mobile, dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it.

This morning (Thursday 6 August), Sussex Police said: “A woman has sadly died from the injuries she sustained in a collision 11 days earlier.

“59-year-old Pamela Chadwick, from Seaford, was driving a grey Suzuki Vitara which collided with a silver Kia Venga on the A26 at Beddingham around 11.24pm on Saturday 18 July.

“Her next of kin have received specialist support from officers who are now seeking witnesses to the incident.

“The Kia driver, a 39-year-old man, from Dover, sustained serious injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

“He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until Friday 30 October, pending further inquiries.

“Did you see what happened or did you capture any relevant mobile, dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it?

“Email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Courier.”
