Following the announcement of their new studio album ‘Trixies’, British legends Squeeze announce the most ambitious UK tour of their 50+ year career.
Founded in 1973 by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze are one of pop’s best-loved bands with a catalogue of sky-high classics such as ‘Up The Junction’, ‘Tempted’, ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Another Nail In My Heart’ and ‘Labelled With Love’, whose live shows are legendary or, as The Guardian wrote, “pop perfection”.
The 16-date ‘Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour’, starting at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 12th November and ending at the Brighton Centre on 5th December, will see the band headline several arenas for the first time – including a hometown show at London’s O2 Arena just 3 miles from where the band started. Joining Squeeze on the tour as very special guest will be singer, songwriter and activist Billy Bragg.

Speaking about the tour Tilbrook said, “The reaction to the 50th anniversary tour in 2024 was amazing. We have never sounded better and it feels really special to be looking forward to playing the biggest headline shows of our career. And having Billy Bragg on the same bill, what’s not to love!”. Difford added, “It’s going to be amazing to show off songs from our album ‘Trixies’ and, of course, all the hits and some surprises. I’m also excited that Billy Bragg will be joining us for all the shows.”
Squeeze have confirmed that they will, once again, be supporting the charity Trussell, which provides emergency food and support to people who cannot afford the essentials, while campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. Fans are invited to bring along food donations to the shows, where there will be collection points across the venue each night. There will also be collection buckets for any cash donations. All donations will be distributed to people facing hardship across the 1,400 food bank centres in the Trussell network.

Additionally, £1 from the sale of every ticket will be going to support grassroots music venues, artists and promoters. This week Music Venue Trust, the charity that supports hundreds of UK grassroots music venues, has announced that Tilbrook has become a patron. “The grassroots is where it all starts for so many musicians and where local communities can access affordable and exciting live music. We need to protect these venues and nurture the artists so that our great culture can thrive for generations to come” he said.
Recently announced, Squeeze’s new album ‘Trixies’ will be released on 6th March 2026. Their first album in eight years but the first they ever wrote, ‘Trixies’ is a collection of stories set in a fictional night club written by the teenage Difford (19) and Tilbrook (16) at the very start of their songwriting partnership. The only problem with these songs was that, back in 1974, the musical vision of the young creators exceeded their virtuosity.
Fifty years on, and having rediscovered the original cassette, that problem no longer exists for the band who have played more than 600 shows since reuniting in 2007. So what better way to mark 50+ years of Squeeze than to complete the circle and realise the vision they had for ‘Trixies’? Now this precocious opening volley of songs – under the guiding production hand of Squeeze’s bassist Owen Biddle (The Roots, John Legend, Al Green) – finally gets to enjoy its moment in the spotlight.

About Squeeze:
Squeeze, the iconic British band led by the unparalleled songwriting duo Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, remain one of the most revered and distinctive voices in UK pop history. Their legacy spans over five decades of masterful songwriting, stellar live performance, and cultural impact; between 1978 and 1996 they had no fewer than 11 singles in the UK Top 40, with six in the Top 20. Many more of their songs have been woven into the very fabric of the British songwriting tradition – alongside those of The Beatles and The Kinks – influencing everyone from Lily Allen to The Killers.
Taking a hiatus at the turn of the century to focus on solo projects Tilbrook and Difford reunited in 2007 for a run of live shows. ‘Cradle To The Grave’, Squeeze’s first album of new material in 17 years, written as a soundtrack to the eponymous BBC sit-com, was released in 2015 followed by 2017’s acclaimed ‘The Knowledge’. Squeeze recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary, touring extensively in the UK and the US, and reinforcing their reputation as one of the great British live acts.
About Billy Bragg:
Billy Bragg has been a fearless recording artist, tireless live performer and peerless political campaigner for 40+ years. He has released 11 solo studio albums, the much lauded ‘Mermaid Avenue’ trilogy of albums with Wilco and one album with Joe Henry. His performances at the BBC were anthologised in ‘The Best Of Billy Bragg At The BBC 1983-2019’ (2019). Described by The Guardian as “the perfect Venn diagram between the political and the personal” his storied career has been marked by numerous major milestones including being honoured with a prestigious Ivor Novello Award in 2018 for ‘Outstanding Contribution to British Music’.
Billy Bragg added best-selling author/musicologist to his CV with the success of his acclaimed 2017 book ‘Roots, Radicals & Rockers – How Skiffle Changed The World’. He has written two books of political analysis – ‘The Progressive Patriot: A Search For Belonging’ (2006) and ‘The Three Dimensions of Freedom’ (2019). In 2023 Billy released a critically acclaimed 40th Anniversary career-spanning box set of his work entitled ‘The Roaring Forty’.
About the grassroots support from the tour:
£1 from the sale of every ticket will be going to support grassroots music venues, artists and promoters. Funds raised from venues over 5,000 capacity will go to the LIVE Trust. Funds raised from venues under 5,000 capacity will go to Music Venue Trust.
About Trussell:
We’re an anti-poverty charity and community of food banks. We work together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank to survive, while providing food and practical support to people left without enough money to live on.
Together, we are: 1,400 food bank locations, 36,000 volunteers,100,000s of community groups and schools, and millions of people around the UK. Last year, our community of food banks distributed 2.9 million emergency food parcels. We need urgent action on hunger in the UK. People are being pushed to the brink because they don’t have enough money to live on. This can’t go on. We refuse to stand by while so many of us can’t afford to eat, keep warm and pay the bills.
