Fire crews put out house fire in Peacehaven

A fire investigation is due to look into the cause of a blaze yesterday afternoon (Thursday 9 October).

The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called on Thursday 9 October at 3.33pm to a fire at a domestic property, in Ringwood Road, Eastbourne.

“As 4.07pm we have four fire engines in attendance from Eastbourne, Newhaven and Bexhill.

“Crews are using breathing apparatus and firefighting jets to tackle the fire.

“Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and local residents to keep windows and doors closed.”

In an update, the fire service said: “As of 4.41pm the fire has been extinguished.

“One person has been treated for smoke inhalation.

“As of 5pm the incident is being scaled down to one fire engine.

“Crews are damping down and checking for hot spots to ensure the fire is completely out.

“Crews are also completing a ‘hot strike’, providing targeted home safety advice to local residents.

“South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

“A fire investigation into the cause of the fire will be undertaken.”
