Plans for 216 homes at a town-centre site in Worthing are to be decided next week.
Worthing Borough Council’s planning committee will rule on the plans for the brownfield Union Place site in Worthing on Wedensday evening (February 28).
Plans for ‘Union Gardens’, a joint venture between Roffey Homes and Worthing Borough Council, were submitted in November, 2023.
The scheme will aim to deliver 700 square metres of commercial space alongside the 216 homes, and a 146-space undercroft car park, with buildings towards the centre of the development to reach up to 11 storeys tall.
Of the 43 affordable homes included in the scheme, ten will be for social rent, ten for affordable rent, and 23 will be shared ownership.
Union Gardens and Teville Gate have previously been championed as flagship brownfield developments for the council by leader Beccy Cooper, with the council having bought £6million worth of shares in the joint venture in a 50/50 split with Roffey.
